UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government Cumberland Island Photo site. The most comprehensive and not just about Cumberland. Maps, pictures, natural history. Wonderful.
Longstreet Highroad Guide to the Georgia Coast & Okefenokee Most comprehensive site about the Georgia Coast.
Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary A really nice site about a sanctuary off the coast of Georgia's Sapelo Island.  There are maps field guides and much more.
Atlantic Coast Watch A non profit service that is a reference desk for the Atlantic coast.  Breathtaking list of links (Coastal Connections) and, my favorite, links to to coastal news (Coastal News Nuggets) updated every week.
Beaufort, SC Straightforward navigation, comprehensive beach information.
Hunting Island, SC  Like Beaufort, SC but with image map.
Mexico Beach, FL  Great use of panoramic pictures.  It's not just the pictures them selves, it's how the are used to depict the area.
St Simons Island, GA   (dead link, too bad) Great low-level aerial photo.
Jekyll Island, SC   (dead link, too bad) Great low-level aerial photo.
Brown Marine, Pensacola, FL Great coverage of the Pensacola area and a remarkable list of maritime links.  Buy a Tugboat.
EPA Beach Watch Great maps. Important information but not much detail.

Aerial Angel Flying Services Great color aerial photos of Mobile, Pensacola, Destin, and Panama City areas.
Treasure Dive Sites Wow!  This site is loaded with maps and aerial photographs about diving for treasure in Florida.  Lots of treasure related history. The pages load slowly because of the many images but this is a labor of love.  Lists books about treasure hunting and great links.

WBSR  Pensacola, FL

This is the only radio site we found that has any useful local information.  Thanks to WBSR.  Scroll down to find beach stuff.
The Star, Apalachicola and Bay County Florida Actually has local news.  Not a copy of most newspapers.  We salute.
Apalachicola Times Online Less information than the The Star but we like it.
The Brunswick News Another nice local newspaper site.  Makes you feel like you are there.

Sand burrs. Cool, lush grass and then, agh!
Stinging bugs But Atlanta has more stinking bugs.
Jellyfish Takes the fun out of the surf.
Drinking water "Tastes like horse sweat with a hint of rusty nails."  "Makes great iced tea though."  -sb
Garbage On the beach.
Seaweed It's great but not when we're swimming in it.  -sb
