04-3-01 Invitation from the Grady High School Cyberspace Project

Please join the Grady's Forum for School Webmasters.

My name is Terry Kearns, a parent of two students at Grady High School in Atlanta, Georgia U.S.A.

What:

Please accept this invitation to participate in a new forum for school webmasters. You can find it at: Grady's School Webmasters' Forum.

Why:

Last summer I volunteered to help Grady High School's webmaster. I've certainly learned a lot. But I've found it hard to interact with the folks who know the most about school web sites - other school webmasters. I've talked with some of you by telephone and others by email. I've figured out that school webmasters are a natural online community. We can be a valuable resource to each other and to each of our schools and we can use the web to do it.

I personaly have lots of questions: What's been successful for you? How do you involve the school community in publishing and using your site? How much time do you spend each week. What are your most popular pages? What resources have been valuable to you?

How:

I've created a single web page that allows you to do two things: You can participate in a simple discussion forum and you can post links. If you like, you can sign up for an email alert. That way you can follow the forum by email. There is no advertising, there is no password, you don't have to logon, and you can lurk without posting. As owner of the forum, I will get an email whenever someone posts to the forum.

Who:

This initial invitation is going out to 48 school webmasters. Many are in Georgia. Thirteen are in other states. One is going to a school in Australia and one to New Zealand. I picked school sites that were active and up-to-date. I intend to invite others as I get the chance. If you think the forum is useful, please invite other school webmasters.

I appreciate your efforts to support your school's community. I look forward to hearing from you on the Webmasters' Forum. I really think we can help each other.
