The big hole was to be on the right side of the stoop all the way to the foundation about 8' below grade. Everyone expected to find the problem down there: broken or clogged foundation drains. Turned out the drains were fine and there weren't any obvious crack in the retaining wall. I think that's good news but where is the leak?
