Thanks For Your Support.

No, I'm not running for office or pitching a new beverage product.  I'm merely grateful for the continual support of Morningsiders to make this such a wonderfully imperfect place to live.  Maybe you're taking care of a small little plot of City property (or your neighbor's property).  Maybe you finally fixed that broken sidewalk after a kind prompt from a MLPA volunteer.  Maybe you literally moved rocks as a part of the fabulous Sydney Marcus Park re-do.  Maybe you joined the zoning committee, helped neighbors through the process and learned why the rules aren't there by chance.  Maybe you now drive exactly 25 mph through the neighborhood and give friendly waves to the car just off your rear bumper.  Maybe you picked up some tips on planting a tree from the annual event with Trees Atlanta.  Maybe you renewed your Morningside Security Patrol membership and got a shiny new sign.  A sincere thanks from everyone on the MLPA Board for your help in these and many other ways.

Feeling left out?  Not to worry, three fine opportunities are at hand.  First, come out and support the annual Tour of Homes - with your dollars or by volunteering an hour or two of your time.  It's MLPA's only fundraiser and is a great time to watch the leaves fall and get some culinary insights from the pros.  Second, renew your membership with MLPA and please don't overlook the Morningside Security Patrol this year.  Pushing crime away is a constant battle, and we're lucky to have such a dedicated group of off duty APD officers patrolling our neighborhood.  I'm convinced that we'd have many more MSP participants if our residents heard the public safety concerns at other in-town civic meetings.  Finally, just show up.  Some of our monthly MLPA Board meetings (2nd Monday at 7:30pm - Morningside Presbyterian Church) are admittedly quite dull, but others offer priceless live entertainment.  In the process you might find that pitching in is as easy as raising your hand.  After all, if someone like me can progress through the ranks on the MLPA Board and be able to send, just like that, a HAVE TERRIFIC HOLIDAYS greeting to thousands of my friends and neighbors - so can you!

Continuing A Grand Tradition

Everyone knows what a great neighborhood Morningside Lenox Park is.  What many people may not know is how strong and vital the Morningside Lenox Park Association is.  Committed to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life of it's residents, our neighborhood association today continues a grand tradition.

Our reputation as a highly organized, politically informed, hard working group of volunteers is well known and well respected throughout the city.  Our neighborhood association is a model for many young neighborhoods as they struggle to balance growth and other issues that are part of living in a major city.  From the feisty group who stopped I-485 back in the 60's to our neighbors who just recently dreamed of an urban forest and made it happen, we tend to stick to our beliefs and never give up hope.  I am proud to be a member of this group.

As Atlanta grows around us, we will continue to grow too.  More people, more cars, more issues to address thoughtfully to find where our neighborhood fits in it all.  We need your input as never before.  Please join us at our monthly MLPA meetings, second Monday of each month, 7:30 p.m. at Morningside Presbyterian Church.  We all want our neighborhood to remain one of Atlanta's best.  Come help us make wise judgements on the important issues facing our community.  You can make a difference. It is with great honor that I accept the role of president of MLPA this year.  I hope by year's end, I will have helped in some small way to make Morningside Lenox Park a better place to live.  I know I'll learn and grow along with our neighborhood, continuing the grand tradition that is Morningside Lenox Park.
