****Grady's Softball Team Opens Season Tuesday, 8/20
The Grady softball team has been practicing for three weeks to get ready for their season opener. Grady will play Blessed Trinity this coming Tuesday, 8/20 at 5:00 PM at Southside Park. Southside is the location of all of Grady's home games. The park is at 3460 Jonesboro Road, SE. (From downtown Atlanta, take I-75 south, exit Cleveland Avenue, go east (left). Turn right (south) on Jonesboro Road; the park will be on your left just before you reach I-285).

Come support your Lady Knights this season. A great group of about 20 girls has been practicing regularly under Coach Black's direction.

****VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

1. To pre-sell tickets for the tailgate BBQ to be held on Sept 6. Volunteers will sell tickets each morning 8:00 - 8:45 AM in the 10th Street parking lot to parents dropping off students. Two volunteers are needed for each day Mon - Fri, Aug 26 - 30. Please call or email Diane Terrell at 404-892-0072 atlantaddt@aol.com.

2. The West End Rotary Club, sponsor of the GHS Interact Club, has an international student who wants to attend Grady this year. In order to do so, she needs a host family. The student is Odile Mugisha from Kigali, Rwanda. She is 19 years old and will be taking her high school senior year for the 2nd time, since she has already graduated from high school in Rwanda.  She's fluent in English and French and has taken two years of German. She really wants to stay with a family with teenagers and experience "American" high school. Rotary International will fund her stay.  Time is of the essence, so interested families should contact Ms. Whitten at 404-325-5584 as soon as possible.

**************
This year, the PTSA would like to do a better job of acknowledging our students' achievments. To do this we would like to include student success items in the Grady Gram and the Knight Lights.  Parents, students and teachers, please help our Grady community know such things as nominees for the Governor's Honors program, inductees into the Beta Club or science fair winners.  Our students are doing great things.  Please help us to acknowlege their successes.

You may submit articles directly to the Grady Gram by emailing Terry Kearns at Gradyproject@aol.com.  The Grady Gram is sent every Friday so
you should have your information to him by Thursday morning.  Send articles to the Knight Lights to Carol Senf at carol.senf@lcc.gatech.edu.  The
deadline for the next issue is Friday, August 30.

If you would prefer, you may send your information to Beth Thornton at atlantaept@oaol.com or call her at 404.872.4002.  She will write
the information up and submit it for publication.
