Driving to Hilton Head 2004 (Sunday, June 06, 2004)

This is the log of our trip to Hilton Head in the summer of 2004.

Atlanta to Hilton Head, May 29, 2004

  • We left the house.

12:02 p.m. odo=68.7,  I-75 mile 179

  • Stopped at rest area just north of Macon.

12:31 p.m. odo=101.4, I-16 mile 19

  • Driver switch

12:56 p.m. odo=133.2, I-16 Exit 51, Dublin

  • Dublin Exit 51 has all the food and gas you need. We ate at Subway.

1:23 p.m.

  • We left Dublin.

2:30 p.m. odo=230.5, I-16 Exit 148

  • Drive switch

2:49 p.m. odo 239, I-16 Exit 157

  • We turned north on I-95

3:03 p.m. odo 257, I-95, South Carolina Welcome Station

  • Rest stop, it's a busy place.

3:16 p.m.

  • We left the welcome station.

3:20 p.m. odo=269, I-95, Exit 8, Highway 278

  • Heading toward the beach now.
  • It's a Saturday traffic jam, everyone is headed to the beach.

4:13 p.m. odo=280

  • We crossed the bridge to Hilton Head. We're there.
  • The last 11 miles took 53 minutes.

  • Sunday dinner, Land's End Tavern at South Beach
  • Sunday dinner, Quarterdeck, upstairs next to the lighthouse.
  • Monday dinner, The Crazy Crab at Harbor Town
  • Tuesday dinner, a home cooked steak dinner
  • Wednesday lunch, Hudson's .
  • Thursday dinner, Wreck of the Salty Dog. at South Beach
  • Friday lunch, Salty Dog at South Beach.
  • Friday dinner, Sante Fe Cafe on 280.
